Easter in Vienna
Easter is very important in Austria's capital, Vienna. Year after year, the Viennese celebrating this season with concerts, operas and inevitable markets.
Food plays a prominent role in any holiday, and Easter is no exception. The pig has always been a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Easter bread with raisins is baked in twisted or braided strands and with the coffee later the traditional Sachertorte might be served.

Easter Market at Schonbrunn Palace
With the incredible Baroque architecture of Schonbrunn Palace in the background, this is one of the prettiest settings for a market anywhere in the world. It is also a great place to soak up the atmosphere and learn more about Austrian Easter traditions and customs, as shoppers browse the main stalls selling everything from Easter eggs to handmade gifts and souvenirs. There are also numerous drinks and food stalls selling regional and national specialties.
